Artist's Way Residency
January 6- February 3, 2022

Shala Sol Arts Council envisions a world where all beings are artists exploring their creative role in shapeshifting a future of freedom and brilliant horizons.
Our mission is to provide artists with workspace, classes, and exhibition opportunities that encourage their unique voice and vision to rise to full potential as they express individual and collaborative works in the local and global commons.

An integral part of our program development is specifically to provide new and emerging artists with professional development opportunities and to promote programs designed to stimulate community involvement, cultural awareness, and support for the arts. This is the heart of the Artist Way Residency, in which we will work directly with Julia Cameron's book The Artist's Way  to explore a spiritual path to higher creativity.  We will accept 4 to 6 people with minimal or much experience in the field of artistic development to procure personal and collaborative artworks for an exhibition during the last week of the residency.

During the 4 week residency each artist will deep dive into a personal project that will address a self-chosen theme related to their personal  creative journey.  Artist residents will have open access to shared loft studio space for visual art production and large open sala space for dance, theater, and music as well as additional outdoor covered production studio space with views toward the Diamante Ridge.

Local women artists Sara Luz, Chia Ortegón and Anashay Amaya will facilitate weekly artistic development workshops open to resident artists.

Each week of the residency there will also be group day trip opportunities offered to residents as a way to take a break from artistic work and simply enjoy and experience the abundant beauty of the southern zone of Costa Rica.

The total cost of the 4 week residency is $2000.  This includes private room accommodation with shared bathroom and 3 beautiful organic vegetarian meals daily.
